Mesh-Ankor Braced System With Privacy Netting
Balfour Beatty approached us to supply a temporary fence with debris netting to separate their worksite from the M25 and adjoining slip route. The site presented significant challenges due to its boggy and difficult-to-access terrain, which made the use of large machinery required for heavy kentledge or concrete footings impractical. Given the high-value assets and safety hazards on site, ensuring the barrier was secure and tamper-proof was a top priority.
After delivering a CPD presentation to Balfour Beatty’s Temporary Works and Engineering team, our Fence-Lok system was recommended to the site team. This recommendation was based on the technical support, system advantages, and exceptional wind load resistance our solution offers compared to traditional methods.
We provided the Fence-Lok system, consisting of a temporary open mesh fence with National Highways-branded netting and the Mesh-Ankor Braced system. This solution was specifically chosen to address the site challenges. The lightweight and compact components of our system were ideal for the boggy ground, as installation required only a handheld impact wrench, eliminating the need for heavy machinery. Additionally, our anti-lift locking strap offered enhanced security, preventing trespassing, reducing theft risks, and minimising potential public safety hazards.
To address the high wind load from the netted fencing, our braced system provided unmatched strength while ensuring compliance with Temporary Works requirements.
To support the site team further, we delivered a comprehensive Temporary Works package. This included on-site anchor load testing to confirm ground conditions, along with a detailed design and load report. In addition, we supplied a handheld impact machine for hire and trained Balfour Beatty’s operatives to install inline with our guidelines. This approach reduced both labor requirements and installation costs for the project.
